“The Earth, time, concepts, love, life, faith, justice, evil - they're all fluid and in transition. They don't stay in one form or in one place forever. The whole universe is like some big FedEx box.”
― Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore
Don't get me wrong, he is no digital marketing specialist. And yet, he already adopted the right mindset: adaptation to continuous change. Not taking anything for granted, while learning from previous experiences. Fundamentally, isn't what growth marketing is all about?
Getting better at what you do, so to speak. Just like running. This might explain why I so much love it. Believe it or not, growth marketing is a lot like running:
“For me, running is both exercise and a metaphor. Running day after day, piling up the races, bit by bit I raise the bar, and by clearing each level I elevate myself. At least that’s why I’ve put in the effort day after day: to raise my own level [...] The point is whether or not I improved over yesterday. In long-distance running the only opponent you have to beat is yourself.”
― Haruki Murakami, What I Talk About When I Talk About Running
By the way, Murakami is my favorite author! But I assume you already figured that out... He would have made a magnificent growth marketer, wouldn't he?
