An internationally acclaimed conductor, Alessandro Siciliani served as the Columbus Symphony Orchestra’s music director for over a decade. Since 2011, Alessandro Siciliani has been the artistic director of Opera Project Columbus.
During his decades-long career, Maestro Siciliani has been a guest conductor with a variety of international ensembles, including the Teatro Municipal of São Paulo, Brazil and the Orchestra of the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2013 he conducted Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Sarasota Orchestra, and he was active from 2014 to 2018 as a guest conductor with the Symphony of the Americas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
One highlight of Maestro Siciliani’s career has been conducting the Columbus Symphony Orchestra in its 50th season at Carnegie Hall in New York. This well-attended 2001 debut performance at the storied venue included a heartfelt rendition of Brahms’ Symphony No. 2 in D major, op. 73, as well as the prologue from Arrigo Boito's Mefistofele.
A practicing Catholic, Alessandro Siciliani is active in several Ohio parishes, including Our Lady of Victory in Columbus and St Christopher Church in Grandview.
