A longtime resident of Lancaster, California, Alvina Mitchell double majored in math and science at Lancaster’s Antelope Valley Community College, finishing her associate of arts in just nine months, and her associate of science within two years. She briefly left the Lancaster area to study accounting and finance at California State University, Northridge, but the need to care for her four children prevented her from finishing. In order to support her family as a single mother, Alvina Mitchell began working full time as a small business owner, winning honors as a regional businesswoman of the year from 2003 to 2005.
Since 2008, Alvina Mitchell has performed tax accounting as a practitioner with Lancaster’s Mitchell Tax Professionals. She is also an active member of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and the captain of her neighborhood watch program.
In her free time, she stays fit by adhering to a strenuous workout routine five times a week. She also enjoys roller-skating and riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle.
