As a student at Centennial High School in Frisco, Texas, Alyssa Kotomi Luhrs served as a member of the French Club as well as the track and field and volleyball teams. At the same time, Alyssa Kotomi Luhrs was a member of the Lonestar Volleyball Club and was at one point featured on the cover of its special edition magazine. Upon graduating, she started working as a server at Kotta Sushi while pursuing an associate's in science with an emphasis on microbiology and anatomy at Collin Community College (CCC).

Alyssa Luhrs is expected to earn her associate's in December 2018, going on to pursue further education in nursing. She has been passionate about nursing since high school and even attended introductory summer camps hosted by the CCC nursing program in 2013 and 2014. Moreover, she is certified in First Aid a well as CPR and Automated External Defibrillator. Ms. Luhrs regularly works at improving her public speaking abilities by attending various seminars and is continuously developing her Japanese speaking skills during vacations to the country.
