Angele Thibodeaux Burns has an extensive background in leading educational organizations and nonprofits. Throughout her career, Angele Thibodeaux Burns has specialized in educational leadership, with much of her academic career focused on leading K-8 schools.
As the principal of the Academy of Environmental Science and Mathematics, she facilitated the former charter school’s transition into the Saint Louis Public Schools system. Dr. Burns has always spent much of her time using data to improve and focus instructional and character development strategies.
After serving eight years as public school principal in Saint Louis, MO; she later spent five years with the East Central Illinois Community Action Agency, where she served as chief executive officer. As the CEO of Community Action, Dr. Burns led over 100 staff members and provided executive leadership for 10 Early Childhood Head Start Centers across three counties in Illinois.
She was also involved in multiple community outreach projects which included working with affordable housing community partners to build a beautiful subdivision called Prairie Meadows II, located in Hoopeston, IL. Dr. Burns, as a lifelong educator has also facilitated delivery of educational classes focused on financial literacy, health, and nutrition for families with young children, veterans and senior citizens.
In addition, during her time with Community Action, she consistently hosted events to honor the Agency’s volunteers while also highlighting success stories in the community.
