A professor in the Departments of Cancer Biology and Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Anil Sood also leads as vice chair of translational research and holds the Frank McGraw Memorial Chair in Cancer Research. He directs the cancer center's Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program, a position that he accepted two years after he became co-director of the institution’s Center for RNA Interference and Non-Coding RNA. In addition to these responsibilities, Dr. Anil Sood co-directs the Ovarian Cancer Moonshot Program and is a past recipient of the Bettyann Asche Murray Distinguished Professorship in Ovarian Cancer Research.
Dr. Anil Sood stands out as the recipient of numerous research awards, including the Rosalind Franklin Ovarian Cancer Research Award and the Society for Gynecologic Investigation President's Achievement Award. Most recently, he received the American Cancer Society Research Professor Award and accepted election to the the Association of American Physicians.
Dr. Anil Sood focuses his work on the growth and vascularization of ovarian cancer, as well as the development of strategies for the systemic delivery of in vivo siRNA treatments. He has received more than 10 patents and licenses and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, many of which he has served as an editorial board or advisory panel member.
