An accomplished educator who has taught social studies at Rhode Island’s Woonsocket High School for more than 20 years, Anthony Cosentino lives just over the Connecticut border in the small town of Putnam. While serving as a classroom instructor, he earned certification as a firefighter and joined the Putnam Fire Department in 2009. Anthony Cosentino continues to work for the fire department today, extinguishing fires, rescuing citizens in danger, providing basic lifesaving services, driving rescue vehicles, operating department equipment, and generally protecting people during emergencies.
He built on his level I firefighter designation, obtaining level II certification from the Eastern Connecticut Fire school in 2013 and fire instructor certification from the State of Connecticut Commission on Fire in 2019. He is also certified in hazmat operations. Mr. Cosentino currently serves as lieutenant of Hose Company # 2. In recognition of his achievements, he received “Firefighter of the Month” honors in March of 2016.
