Dr. Bennett is a physician anesthesiologist who retired from over 30 years of active practice in 2019. He obtained a BA in biological science from the University of Mississippi (UM) in Oxford and a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson. After graduating from Tupelo High School as class president and recipient of the Balfour Award, he was elected president of the UM student senate, and would later serve as president of his medical school class. He went on to complete extensive postgraduate training in anesthesiology, ultimately completing fellowships in regional anesthesia and cardiac anesthesia at the Clinique’ Pont du Cha’me in France and the Alfred Hospital in Australia, respectively.
Upon completion of his internship and residency training at Baylor University Medical Center and The University of Texas Southwestern
in Dallas, Texas in 1992, he then began his private practice career spanning of over 30 years in East Texas until his retirement in 2019 in order to devote his full time and efforts toward other volunteer and philanthropic causes.
