Brian Bugge is a security management professional with more than 30 years of combined experience in risk management, law enforcement, and private security (specializing in security within higher education, healthcare, hospitality and retail settings). Drawing upon his extensive and varied experience, Brian Bugge works as a managing director of security services for IRI Global, a Connecticut-based security consulting firm that assists corporations strengthen their security/safety posture and their organizational resilience through applying cutting-edge enterprise risk management strategies.
Since taking on the role of managing director at IRI in 2011, Brian Bugge has worked alongside numerous retail chains, hospitals, and schools throughout New York and New Jersey in recovery efforts following Hurricane Sandy and helped the Mall of America reduce instances of property crime by 40 percent through problem-oriented security. Additionally, Mr. Bugge was part of the IRI team that helped the Connecticut legislature draft the state's most complete overhaul of school safety in 25 years following the tragic Newtown school shooting in 2012.
Prior to joining IRI, Mr. Bugge served as the first national director of security and school safety for EdisonLearning, a position he held from 2003 to 2011 and for which he supervised more than 200 professionals responsible for 425,000 students and staff worldwide. In 2002, Mr. Bugge formed the Northeast Chapter of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP). He served on its board for 7 years. Mr. Bugge now also serves as an online instructor for the University of Phoenix's College of Criminal Justice and Security Management.
