Dr. Brian Gilchrist is a surgeon with more than 30 years of experience, especially with neonatal and pediatric surgery. He most recently served as chief of pediatric surgery at NYU Winthrop Hospital, where he oversaw the expansion and maintenance of the pediatric surgery department. He also oversaw research and publication of academic journal articles and taught surgical residents from Stony Brook University Hospital. Immediately before that, Dr. Brian Gilchrist functioned as chairman of surgery at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, were he managed the department of surgery and the general surgery residents. He earned numerous accolades during his time in this position, including Staff Surgeon of the Year and Teacher of the Year.
Previously, Dr. Brian Gilchrist treated patients at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, New Hampshire, the Staten Island University Hospital, and Long Island College Hospital. He has also taught extensively, most recently at New York University.
Dr. Gilchrist earned an MD from Tufts University and completed a senior residency at Oregon Health Sciences University. He was a fellow in pediatric surgery at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the University of Tennessee, and a fellow in transplantation surgery at Harvard Medical School. He also served as chief resident of pediatric surgery at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
