Bruce Houck

Longtime Minnesota Educational Administrator

Southwest Educational Cooperative

Based in Hendricks, Minnesota, Bruce Houck leverages his extensive experience as an educator to serve as superintendent of the Southwest Educational Cooperative. In this position, he oversees Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, Lynd, and Hendricks Public Schools and leads nearly 150 employees. Responsible for budgeting, Bruce Houck plans and implements programs that improve the curriculum and he has spearheaded the creation of expanded online learning.

Mr. Houck holds longstanding membership in the Minnesota Association of School Administrators (MASA) and is a former Region 3 chairman of MASA. For 14 years, he engaged as Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Public School superintendent and managed a $6.5 million annual budget. Among his accomplishments was securing state and federal grants and employing them in ways that furthered educational mandates.

Studying in Aberdeen, South Dakota, Mr. Houck completed his undergraduate studies at Northern State University and pursued graduate work in educational administration at the University of South Dakota. Bruce Houck’s academic background extends to a dissertation on bilingual education on reservations, which he undertook while working toward his Ed.S. in educational administration at North Dakota State University.
