Anesthesiologist Bruce Hugh Dorman, MD, has served in a number of leadership roles and accumulated several honors over the course of his career. He served for 25 years as a faculty member at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he accepted the position of full professor in 1998. At that time, Dr. Bruce Hugh Dorman was also serving as director of research and director of cardiothoracic anesthesia in the hospital's anesthesiology department, which he later served as program director for the anesthesia residency.
Bruce Hugh Dorman, MD, is also an accomplished researcher. He has received grant support from both the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiology and the American Heart Association, and his work appears in numerous peer-reviewed journals. A reviewer for the journal Anesthesia since 1996 and a former reviewer for two additional publications, he further stands out as co-editor of the textbook Anesthesia for Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Dorman holds a doctor of medicine from Duke University School of Medicine and a PhD in pathology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He served as chief resident in anesthesiology at the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesiology at the same institution.
