As managing director of Asia Capital, Catherine Shiang manages asset allocation including direct investments. She often participates in the exit of portfolio interests, facilitating trade sales through mergers and acquisitions secondary investments involving venture capital and private equity in Asia and Africa markets. Serving as managing director for more than 13 years, Catherine Shiang has allocated her firm’s capital to projects with long investment horizons and opportunities in frontier and emerging markets.
She has lent her expertise in international business and investing to industry-related summits and conferences focused on investments by family offices. Ms. Shiang has spoken at the Bloomberg Family Office Series, where she discussed the types and structures of family offices along with the allocation of their assets. She spoke at the AVCJ 30th Annual Conference in Singapore with a presentation on “New Force in Capital Markets.”
Outside of her work with Asia Capital, Ms. Shiang takes on advisory roles. She has served as an advisor and consulted for notable companies such as Sands China, a subsidiary of Las Vegas Sands, and the Equinox Group, a Nigerian company. As a special advisor to the Equinox Group, she provided structured a hospitality project intended for 19 Sub Saharan countries in Africa
Catherine Shiang holds a JD from Georgetown University Law Center and a BA from the University of California, Berkeley in political science and biochemistry.
