The recipient of a bachelor of science in business marketing management from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Claire C. Carr subsequently earned her juris doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law. After she served as an intern for the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia in the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, Claire C. Carr served as a law clerk to the Office of the Chief Staff Attorney for the Supreme Court of Virginia. Concurrently, Carr also served as law clerk to that court’s Senior Justice Richard H. Poff.
Since 1992, she has worked as an insurance defense lawyer with Kalbaugh, Pfund & Messersmith in Richmond, VA where she serves as the vice president and a shareholder as well as managing partner of the firm's Worker’s Compensation practice group. In recognition of her contributions to the profession, Claire C. Carr has earned an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell and various other honors including Super Lawyer, Legal Elite and Top Women in Law.
In addition to her three decades of legal experience, Carr maintains active membership with the Virginia Bar Association, Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, and College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers, Workers' Compensation American Inn of Court, among others. Outside of her professional pursuits, she enjoys attending local and Broadway theater productions, visiting museums.
