Dalvin Butler

Hawaii Department of Education Secondary Teacher

Hawaii Department of Education

While still in high school, Dalvin Butler earned three different postsecondary associate’s degrees in the general arts and sciences. He subsequently attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC, where he studied government and participated in Ralph Nader’s Democracy Is for People campaign. After obtaining his bachelor of arts from Georgetown, Dalvin Butler found that his talents lied in political science and history.

Thereafter, Mr. Butler assumed his current position as a secondary teacher with the Hawaii Department of Education. He is also involved with multiple programs run by the Hawaii State Teachers Association (HSTA), serving as a member of the organization’s executive board and the State Elections Committee. Dalvin Butler also serves as a liaison between the HSTA and the Hawaii Young Professional Educators. In that position, he provides new educators with effective teaching practices and explains the professional development, reclassification, and evaluative systems of the Department of Education.
