Passionate about teaching and preaching, David Belk is serving as Pastor Monterey Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas. Before that, he served as Interim Pastor at Bayou Drive Baptist Church in Alvin, Texas. He began at Monterey Baptist Church in August 2018, and provided leadership to the ministerial staff since that time. Pastor David Belk also conducted Sunday-morning Bible studies, preached in the pastor’s absence, and lead the church in weekly outreach.
In addition to his pastoral tasks, David Belk serves as the Assistant Director for New Hope Initiative, Inc., which is a nonprofit organization located in Spring, Texas. This faith-based initiative seeks to bring change to poor communities across the globe. It partners with local leaders in these neighborhoods and offers self-sustaining projects with the goal of changing the community. Dr. Belk travels once per year to five areas in Africa and India to help fulfill the mission of New Hope Initiative. He also works with other local churches to raise money and awareness for its endeavors.
He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Communication with a minor in psychology from Texas Tech University. While there, he was on the dean’s list. He went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Divinity with Biblical Languages and his Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Care from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
