A career Army officer and an attorney who began practicing through the California Bar in 1991, David Dalition embarked on his law career as a legal assistance attorney and prosecutor at Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia. He went on to practice as a tort claims attorney with the US Army Claims Service, a defense counsel with the US Army Trial Defense Service, and a litigation attorney with the US Army Litigation Division. David Dalition ultimately served as a staff judge advocate at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Aberdeen, Maryland.
In addition to practicing as an attorney and providing direct legal counsel, David Dalition has a significant history as a college professor. As a U.S. Military Academy West Point faculty member and the Director of West Point's Advanced Constitutional Law Program, Colonel Dalition distinguished himself as a professor and leader within the military academy. He also served as a faculty member and the Director of National Security Legal Studies at the United States Army War College in Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. Mr. Dalition retired from the military at the rank of Colonel. .
