A Managing Director at a private equity firm, Heartwood Partners, Demetrios Dounis oversees all aspects of the investment process, primarily the development of growth strategies, portfolio management and dealexecution. Since joining the company in 2020, Demetrios Dounis has become a lead board director at several portfolio companies, including a specialty materials business and a packaging business.
Previously, Demetrios Dounis was an Investment Partner at a middle market private equity firm based in Westport, CT. He joined this firm in 2007, where he served as a a board director at several portfolio companies, including Velocity Outdoor Inc. In addition, Mr. Dounis has been heavily involved in several of the firm’s most successful investments including CamelBak and Aeroglide. Before starting his financial career, he pursued a bachelor of science degree in accounting at Rutgers University, which he earned in 2000. While there, he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and was elected vice-president of Beta Alpha Psi.
Demetrios Dounis holds a master’s of business administration with a concentration in strategic management, finance, and entrepreneurship, which he earned in 2007 from the University of Chicago. While pursuing that degree, he was elected the cohort class agent and was the Private Equity/Venture Capital Group co-chair. Outside of his work, he is an avid sports enthusiast who plays basketball and also enjoys golfing.
