Diego attended the University of Maryland in College Park and studied Economics before embarking on a real estate finance career that has spanned more than 20 years. He stands out as a prominent member of the industry who has been featured on the NBC Nightly News. Diego Calderon also previously served on the board of the Maryland Mortgage Brokers Association and advisory councils for a range of national banks.

Mr. Calderon has guided Bethesda, Maryland-based Washington Home Mortgage (WHM) since founding the company in 1998. In his leadership role with WHM, he recruits, hires, and manages a team of loan originators who help property buyers finance real estate purchases. He also handles WHM’s marketing and sales initiatives and serves as a liaison between the company and its various industry partners to ensure that loans are correctly processed and closed.

Mr. Calderon further stands out as an active philanthropist and community member. In addition to supporting nonprofit organizations, such as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, during his spare time he volunteers as a youth coach for his sons’ sports teams.
