As director of the Texas Institute of Chest and Sleep Disorders in Houston for the past quarter century, Dr. Alex Lechin has been responsible for the evaluation and management of patients in areas such as pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine. Among Dr. Alex Lechin’s areas of clinical expertise are asthma, COPD, lung cancer, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary fibrosis, COVID, insomnia, sleep apnea, and he has undertaken extensive research in many of this areas.

Originally from Venezuela, Dr. Lechin attended Southern Vermont College for his undergraduate studies and earned his MD at the Central University of Venezuela. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Wake Forest University and pursued residency training at East Tennessee State University. Having served as chief resident at the institution, he completed his medical studies through a clinical fellowship in his present field at the Baylor College of Medicine.

Dr. Lechin currently lectures as an assistant clinical professor at Baylor College, where he instructs medical students and residents. He has authored more than 90 articles and book chapters over the decades that reflect research in areas such as neurophysiology, neuropharmacology, neuroscience, neuroimmunology, and clinical pharmacology. A respected presence in his field, Dr. Alex Lechin has consistently earned the Top Doctor Award over the past decade.
