Dr. Gregory Sampognaro is a respected MD in the Monroe, Louisiana, medical community who serves as an interventional cardiologist with Affinity Health Group. As an MD, Dr. Gregory Sampognaro also maintains affiliation with the Physicians and Surgeons Hospital, and serves on the institution’s Medical Executive Committee.
Dr. Sampognaro earned his BA at the University of Louisiana at Monroe in the late 1980s, and subsequently completed an MD at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. Undertaking a cardiovascular diseases fellowship at the Alton Oschner Medical Foundation in New Orleans, he earned the institution’s Junior Fellow Award. He completed his academic work with an interventional cardiology fellowship in North Carolina at Wake Forest University’s Bowman Gray School of Medicine.
Earning certification with the American Board of Internal Medicine in interventional cardiology, Dr. Sampognaro maintained a private practice in Monroe from 2000 to 2014. He also coauthored the paper “Use of a Novel Access Technology for Femoral Artery Catheterization: Results of the RECITAL Trial.”
