Dr. John Wells is a longtime Brownsville, Texas health care leader who guides Melchizedek Medical, Pllc, and offers consulting services focused on correctional and occupational medicine. Previously serving for six years as medical director for McLennan County, Dr. John Wells oversaw aspects of correctional institution medical departments such as personnel, budgeting, and patient care. He also recently worked as a medical evaluator with Veteran Evaluation Services.
From 1980 to 1993, Dr. Wells was a full time emergency room physician who worked within a number of Texas hospital settings. He subsequently spent a decade as the medical director of Brownsville Anesthesia Consultants and oversaw patient care of an anesthesia group. From 1996 to 2010, he was the medical director of Valley Pain and Rehab Center and guided a host of pain relieving procedures that included interventional pain management.
Dr. Wells’ current responsibilities include a role as supervisor of the Brownsville City Health Authority, where he has set in place emergency response plans designed to safeguard local residents, in any situation. Since 2017, Dr. John Wells has also served as medical director of the city’s Fire/EMS department and worked to expand the reach of programs critical to the establishment and sustainability of the Mobile Intergrated Health Program (Community Paramedics)
