An experienced oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. John Won holds a bachelor of science in biology from the University of California Irvine and a doctor of dental surgery from Columbia University in New York City. Dr. John Won completed an internship in general surgery and both an internship and a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Hospital in Chapel Hill. He also secured a doctor of medicine from the UNC School of Medicine.

Dr. John Won’s professional history includes tenures as an adjunct clinical professor with UNC and an attending physician at two different hospitals in Raleigh, North Carolina. He started his first private practice in Raleigh in 2005 under the name POMS Oral & Facial Surgery. In 2016, he expanded POMS by establishing a second location in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and developed a second Raleigh practice called Athena Facial Esthetics. Dr. Won continues to operate all three of these medical offices.
