A New York writer with a deep interest in psychology, Dr. Pradeep Atluri concurrently earned a PhD in neuroscience and an MD from Harvard University. Following his graduation, he studied brain oscilations through electrophysiology at Yale University and synaptic transmission at Weill Cornell Medical Center as a postdoctoral associate. Subsequently, Dr. Pradeep Atluri completed an internship and residency in psychiatry at New York Presbyterian/Payne Whitney. While there, he gave a presentation on diagnosing and monitoring mental illness through smartphone technologies.

In 2008, Dr. Atluri launched his own private practice, and spent the next 9 years employing medication, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and other clinical modalities to treat clients with issues ranging from addiction to ADHD and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Throughout the years, he has also published numerous articles in scientific journals and given presentations on topics such as the contribution of the brain's natural opioid system in borderline personality disorder, attachment, and addiction.

Recently, he decided to leave his practice to focus more exclusively on writing. He plans to delve into important topics in both psychiatry and neuroscience, including a look at the neurobiology of self-sabotage. Alongside with nonfiction writing, he also plans to craft stories in the science fiction genre.
