With an MD from the University of Illinois medical school in Chicago, Dr. Robert Kohn also holds a dual bachelor of arts in biology and Portuguese from the university’s Urbana-Champaign campus. He first settled in Providence, Rhode Island after medical school, completing both an internship in internal medicine and a residency in psychiatry. Dr. Robert Kohn subsequently completed a National Institutes of Health (NIH) fellowship in psychiatric epidemiology at Columbia University in New York. By the end of his fellowship, he secured a master of philosophy in epidemiology.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Kohn has practiced geriatric psychiatry in a number of clinical settings and directed psychiatry units at Providence’s Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital. His current work involves treating geriatric patients through a combination of psychotherapy and psychopharmacological management.
Robert Kohn, MD, has built upon a history in clinical research that spans four decades. His studies have appeared in dozens of peer-reviewed publications, including the American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry and the Pan American Journal of Public Health.
