Dr. Rodney D. Smith has worked with the University of The Bahamas since 2014 and serves as its chief executive officer and president. With the institution, Dr. Rodney D. Smith has provided transformative leadership, focusing on liberal arts with an international emphasis.
As a result of this work, the facility has earned numerous awards. Highlighting how the organization manages student data, among other areas, Ellucian presented the university with the 2020 Impact Award. The award came with a $25,000 grant.
Dr. Smith has also looked to improve the University of The Bahamas’ carbon footprint. To improve recycling and reduce the school’s environmental impact, he created the position of sustainability officer.
Before joining the university, he served as the administrative vice president of Hampton University. Dr. Rodney D. Smith held the role for six years, during which he oversaw academic and non-academic activities across campus. He was also involved in multiple projects, as determined by academic deans and other executives. While there, he taught strategy and strategic planning as part of an education doctoral program.
