Dr. Gerald (Gerry) Forestell is a retired family physician from Huntsville, Ontario with over 30 years of experience providing care to patients.
Gerry received his medical degree from the University of Western Ontario’s Medical School, graduating cum laude in 1990. He stayed in London to complete his residency in family medicine followed by a further year of training in emergency medicine, earning a designation from the Canadian College of Family Physicians with added competence in Emergency Medicine.
In 1994, Dr. Gerry Forestell joined a group family medicine practice in Huntsville, where he provided care for area residents while also maintaining hospital privileges and working in the emergency room at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH). During this time Gerry was also active as an assistant professor through the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) where he served as a preceptor for medical students and residents from 2009 to 2019.
Gerry Forestell’s areas of interest included providing nursing home (LTC) care and palliative care. He also has an interest in the environment, general preventative care measures for society; particularly the impact of childhood trauma and attachment disorder to mental health and addictions.
An avid outdoor enthusiast, Gerry enjoys gardening, hiking, biking, skiing, canoeing and traveling. Gerry is also an avid supporter of the World Wildlife Fund, MSF/Doctors Without Borders, Unicef and many local organizations.
Born in Alliston, Ontario, Gerry grew up in Tottenham, where he graduated from Banting Memorial High School in 1984.
