Based in New York City as Bloomberg LP’s executive officer of security operations, Eduardo Jany directs protective services and investigates possible threats to the company’s worldwide business enterprises. Eduardo Jany oversees a multi-million-dollar budget, focusing on loss prevention, risk assessment, and public safety.
Mr. Jany’s 33 years of service in the U. S. Marines sparked his interest in protective services. In active and reserve duty, he guided initiatives in infantry, special operations, reconnaissance, and anti-terrorism. Mr. Jany earned the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service medals and retired with the rank of colonel.
While in the Marines, Mr. Jany also carried out law enforcement and investigative duties in several police departments. He commanded SWAT and narcotics operations in a career spanning more than 25 years and three states, retiring as an assistant chief of police. He earned the Police Medal of Valor.
Mr. Jany has taught more than 100 security-related courses, published articles, and presented at conferences. Born in Brazil and naturalized as an American citizen, Mr. Jany has served on the Domestic Security Alliance Council and the Association for Industrial Security.
Holding a master’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Wisconsin, Mr. Jany has continued his education at several institutions, such as the Marine Command and Staff College and Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
