Hershel Warren Cannon

Accomplished Student and Community Leader

McKnight Brain Institute

Hershel Warren Cannon studies neurobiology at the University of Florida, where he participates in service projects both on and off-campus. As an intern in the Neuromedicine Interdisciplinary Clinical and Academic Program (NICAP), he works to optimize the patient care experience and helps with the organization of patient studies. Hershel Warren Cannon balances this work with service as a research project leader at the McKnight Brain Institute, where he reviews glioblastoma research studies and assists in the administration of current projects.

Also a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, Hershel Cannon serves as assistant community service chair. In this position, he organizes a bi-annual food drive and coordinates member visits to a local hospital. He has served as director of service for the university's Interfraternity Council and as a leader for the University of Florida Pre-Professional Service Organization, through which he participated in events for such organizations as Noah's Endeavor and March of Dimes.

Now an ambassador to the Brown Center for Leadership and Service, Hershel Cannon continues to balance his volunteerism with his academic responsibilities. He belongs to the Phi Kappa Phi honor society and has earned a spot in the top 10 percent of his senior class. He maintains active membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and earned the Academic Brother of the Year award from Phi Delta Theta in 2014.
