A graduate of Pepperdine University and the University of Redlands, retired SynerMed head James Mason holds both a master of business administration and a bachelor of arts in international relations. As a founder of the Monterey Park, California-based SynerMed, he played an integral role in the creation of major force in the Los Angeles-area healthcare community. Under James Mason’s direction as president and chief executive officer, SynerMed provided comprehensive information technology and general business management solutions to help meet the needs of physicians and patients alike.
Mr. Mason’s accomplishments over the years include the creation of the Los Angeles centered Downtown Coordinated Care Center (DC3) to serve significantly high costs patients many with dual diagnosis (physical and mental) and those suffering with a variety of social determinants such as access to healthy food, housing, reliable transportation and most importantly access to providers that have the qualifications and time to managed their care effectively. This highly successful program was inspired by the work of Dr. Jeffrey Brenner and was part of CMS Innovation Grant SynerMed participated along with its client MultiCultural IPA and its physician leader Dr. Rodney Hood.
