Initially trained at Epic Aviation in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Jamil Abubakar secured both his single-engine land private pilot license and his multi-engine land commercial pilot license. Jamil Abubakar also obtained an instrument rating from Epic Aviation.

Determined to continue his aviation education and training, Mr. Abubakar became type rated for the Boeing 737 600-900 aircraft through Aerostar in Orlando and Miami, Florida. He also became type rated for the Boeing Business Jet series. Subsequently, after returning to Europe for a brief period of time, the earned a Fokker 100 type rating through Sim Aerotraining in Paris, France.

Throughout his career in aviation that spans nearly a decade, Jamil Abubakar served as a pilot and first officer with IRS, an airline based in Lagos, Nigeria, for six years. At the end of his tenure with IRS, he returned once more to the educational environment, earning type ratings for the Boeing 737 300-500 series through BMA Aviation in Atlanta, Georgia. For the past three years, he has been flying as a senior first officer with Nigeria’s Azman Air.
