A graduate of Troy University, Dr. Jeff Luzius earned his bachelor's degree in psychology magna cum laude while serving in the United States Air Force. After receiving honorable discharge from the Air Force and a master's degree in library and information studies from Florida State University, Dr. Jeff Luzius launched his career as an access services librarian at Troy State University's Lurleen B. Wallace Library.
Throughout the following years, Dr. Luzius held positions such as reference librarian at Auburn University's Ralph Brown Draughon Library and director of libraries at Gadsden State Community College. He also earned a master's degree and doctorate in higher education administration from Auburn University.
In 2008, Dr. Luzius joined Air University as the library director of the Fairchild Research Information Center. During his tenure of nearly a decade, he assisted with renovation, implementation of a program for employee orientation, and designed a new library branch.
Throughout his career, Dr. Luzius has also published numerous articles on various library topics. His writing has appeared in works such as the Journal of Academic Librarianship, The Journal of Interlibrary Loan, Document Delivery & Electronic Reserve, and the Journal of Access Services.
