The recipient of an AA degree from Staten Island University, Jeffrey Sussman graduated from school in 1987 and soon after relocated to Tokyo, Japan, where he worked as a front office supervisor at a small boutique hotel in Tokyo. He spent five years in the country and became proficient in conversational Japanese through the Tokyo Language Institute. Upon returning to New York, in 1993, Jeffrey Scott Sussman began working in a management capacity at the five start five diamond property, The Four Seasons New York City in the pre-opening phase.
Jeffrey Sussman later worked in various management capacities with The Ritz-Carlton, LLC, and earned his first hotel GM role in 2003 with The Grand Palace in Tokyo, Japan. Following a 19-month stint in this role, he held hotel GM roles with The Leela Kempinski and The Intercontinental Hua Hin in India and Thailand, respectively. While working at the former, he helped increase GOP from 47 to 59 percent and oversaw a $25-million renovation project.
Mr. Sussman has since managed hotels in Japan, China, Thailand, Cambodia, India and the Middle East and presently represents himself as a private hospitality consultant. In this capacity, he has negotiated a pair of international hotel management contracts in the Middle East.
