Joel Thys has several decades of retail automotive experience, during which he has worked with several firms. Since 2008, Joel Thys has served as the dealer principal of Thys Motor Company, which he established alongside his wife.

Through the company, he has funded endowments in several educational facilities, including Kirkwood Community College. The Iowa-based business leader also serves as the president of Shaull and Ullerich Chevrolet, having initially served as the company’s general manager for seven years.

As president, Mr. Thys oversaw daily operations while also looking to enhance public relations and marketing. Through a customer follow-up program, he led the firm to become one of the top-ranking dealerships based on customer satisfaction in the North Central Region.

Joel Thys also serves as the president of the Shaull and Ullerich Body Shop. After joining the company in 1998, he oversaw an expansion of its premises which doubled floor space and improved operational efficiency. He was involved in the design and planning processes of the $200,000 project, and also supervised its construction.
