Since 2016, John Genest has served as a Los Angeles, California-based independent brand and product consultant. Working with startup business-to-consumer firms a variety of capacities, he supports discovery, business planning, brand and product development, operation structure, go-to-market strategies and ongoing marketing and sales programming. In addition to his work with startups, John Genest helps accelerate growth stage businesses and develop sustainable turnaround strategies and constructively disruptive marketing programming for established brands needing to evolve.
A graduate of Boston College, Mr. Genest earned a bachelor’s degree in English. While in college, he completed internships with the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.
Mr. Genest transitioned to Los Angeles in 2009, where he supported Metropoulos & Co’s principals during their Pabst Brewing Company acquisition and restructuring. He progressed into a multifaceted brand manager role on a small team responsible for over 25 active brands. The team proved to be instrumental in rebuilding PBC and facilitating Metropoulos & Co.’s successful sale of the company for $720 million (A 3x, ~$500MM return).
Outside of his professional life, John Genest channels his creativity into drawing, writing and playing the drums. Committed to physical fitness, he maintains a regular strength and conditioning regimen, plays basketball, and runs.
