A seasoned administrator and venture capitalist, John McKowen serves as chief executive officer of both GrowCo and VetaNova. Based in Denver, Colorado, these two companies control millions of dollars in assets. John McKowen formerly served nearly 15 years as the chief executive officer and board chairman of Denver’s Two Rivers Water & Farming Company. In addition to founding Two Rivers, he took its $30 million in water assets public through the OTCQB.
In 2006, John McKowen provided startup capital to the oil and gas company BPZ Energy. He was instrumental in BPZ's from initial creation which then went on the New York Stock Exchange, and then saw BPZ’s stock rise from $2 to nearly $30 per share. In 1997, he funded an Internet development startup, taking it from concept to a billion-dollar listing on the NASDAQ index.
Mr. McKowen laid the foundation for his professional success with a bachelor of arts in economics from the Metropolitan State University of Denver. He also completed business and securities law coursework at the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law.
