Experienced in education and administration, John (J.R.) Carlisle is the former principal of the School for the Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati, Ohio. In this position, he helped the Cincinnati institution improve attendance and academic outcomes in addition to enhancing its artistic programs. John R. Carlisle came to this role having served as humanities community principal of Colonel White High School in Dayton.
Prior to taking on administrative roles, Mr. Carlisle gained years of experience teaching music at multiple levels, from elementary through high school. He holds a bachelor of arts in music education from Marshall University, a master of arts in educational leadership from West Virginia University, and a master of business administration from Ashford University.
Mr. Carlisle has since transitioned to a consulting role at his own firm, Carlisle Educational Services. As a consultant, he has collaborated with numerous music programs and schools throughout the Southeast and Midwest and has served as an adjudicator for multiple music competitions, including Bands of America and Drum Corps International.
