A respected presence in the Boston medical community, Dr. Jon Ivar Einarsson engages with Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) as the director of its Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) Division. Employing laparoscopic techniques in situations where minimally invasive surgery would usually not be attempted, Dr. Jon Einarsson provides referral-based services.
Dr. Einarsson undertakes a full range of teaching activities within the hospital’s MIGS Division and has been instrumental in creating a comprehensive MIGS curriculum. Among the offerings of the fellowship program he founded are hands-on laboratory and didactic sessions. State-of-the-art equipment includes a STRATUS simulation center and inanimate trainers, with complex training tailored to program participant needs.
Since 2009, Dr. Jon Ivar Einarsson has additionally engaged as the founder and director of the annual Minimally Invasive BWH/Harvard Medical School GYN Surgery Course. He has organized and designed an accredited, continuing medical education postgraduate course that lasts three and one-half days. Dr. Einarsson serves as the deputy editor of Contemporary Obstetrics and Gynecology and international editor of Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica.
