The head of the Los Angeles Times' Beijing bureau, Jonathan Kaiman builds upon more than seven years of experience as a United States journalist working overseas. Under his direction, the LA Times Beijing Bureau has received prestigious reporting grants from the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting and the Foreign Press Center Japan. Jonathan Kaiman’s accomplishments as a journalist include covering stories in more than a dozen countries as an Asia correspondent for the Los Angeles Times and contributing more than 400 news reports and features to the Guardian. While working for the Guardian, he was shortlisted for the 2013 One World Media New Voice Award.

Outside of the professional environment, Mr. Kaiman enjoys reading works of fiction, listening to folk music, and playing the guitar. He is also a dedicated long-distance runner who has completed a full marathon in Burlington, Vermont, as well as two half-marathons, one in Beijing and another in Inner Mongolia.
