Having served as a police officer with Columbia Heights in Minnesota for two decades, Joseph Sturdevant is an active community leader and volunteer. As a mental health crisis trainer and coach with the Barbara Schneider Foundation over the past five years, Joseph Sturdevant facilitates classes for working professionals. He focuses on techniques for identifying and deescalating situations involving people in the midst of psychological crises.
Throughout his time in law enforcement, Mr. Sturdevant was highly involved in community policing programs, including Neighborhood Watch and Business Watch, as well as DARE and Santa Cop. He also assisted with youth focused programs, such as Teen Academy and Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and participated in an anti-bullying reading program.
Joseph Sturdevant’s volunteer experience includes a past board position with Southern Anoka Community Assistance, where he helped guide food shelf activities that benefit those in need. He currently volunteers at a school serving lunch to students and helping to organize the annual book fair.
