Judge John Bowman

Florida Circuit Judge, John Bowman

State of Florida

A recipient of the Community Advocate of the Year Award in 2007, Judge John Bowman currently serves as a circuit judge in Florida. While presiding over the highest civil trial court in the state, he was appointed to the standing committee on Civil Procedure by the Florida Bar Association president. On this committee, Judge John Bowman helps maintain consistent court procedures by carrying out mandates on rules of judicial administration. This role includes considering new proposals and changes to court procedures.

Judge Bowman earned his juris doctor from St. Thomas University in Miami. While in law school, he made the Dean’s List and competed on the State Moot Court Team. Before his election as a judge, he concentrated on estate litigation and probate in private practice.

Outside of his judicial duties, Judge John Bowman is a proponent of the National Adoption Day program in Broward County, which helps increase public awareness on the need for adoption. The program also provides resources for those looking to adopt. In his first few years as an elected official, he streamlined the adoption process to reduce children’s time spent in foster care.

A lifelong resident of Florida, Judge John Bowman also worked on improving the efficiency of emergency response after Hurricane Wilma. His efforts included bringing various agencies, such as the Attorney General’s office and the Broward County Sheriff’s Department together to develop better emergency response procedures.
