Julius Nasso has both an exceptional academic record and a history of excellence in many of his endeavors. Whether moving into the business world or pushing forward with his studies, Julius has used his extensive academic background to push him to increased success.
Julius’s education began at St. John’s University, from which he graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy. From there, he went on to attend the University of Connecticut, seeking his Doctor of Pharmacy degree, which he received in 1976. In 1984, he went on to attend seminars and courses concerning film production at Cinecitta Studios in Rome, Italy, in an effort to further his understanding of production.
During his years of education, Julius did not focus on his studies alone. Instead, this visionary entrepreneur was constantly growing his platform. In 1974, while still pursuing his undergraduate degree, he founded Universal Marine Medical Supply Co, which has grown to provide medical supplies to an international selection of clients. In 1977, Julius partnered with one of his college professors, Dr. Satish Patel, to form Tishcon Corporations. Since then, Tishcon Corporation has continued to grow: it is now one of the largest private labeling vitamin and health supplement manufacturing plants in the nation.
By 1978, Julius was starting to branch away from the pharmaceutical industry. Partnering with Xavier Roberts, he opened the Cabbage Patch Babyland General Hospital Store. This store, which was, at the time, located on 41st Street and 5th Avenue in Manhattan, offered helped children find their “perfect match” in a baby doll they were sure to adore.
Babyland General Hospital was to offer Julius one great opportunity that would open many doors for the future. There, he met Steve Ross, who was, at the time, the CEO of Time Warner. Ross assisted Julius in acquiring a production deal at Warner Brothers Studios.
In 1980, while still pursuing a career in pharmaceutical distribution, Julius accepted a position as personal assistant to director Sergio Leone. Leone brought Julius in to work on Once Upon a Time in America (1984) while it was filmed in New York. He also had the opportunity to work on the development of In God’s Name and Saint Peter’s Banker.
From there, Julius pursued his film career with a vengeance. He worked with Warner Brothers Studios for 17 years, producing a fantastic series of blockbusters:
Hard to Kill (1990). Marked for Death (1990), Out for Justice (1991), Under Siege (1992), On Deadly Ground (1994), Under Siege 2: Dark Territory (1995), The Glimmer Man (1996), Fire Down Below (1997) and The Patriot (1998).
