Kausthub Desikachar earned his MS in economics and MBA in business from the Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences before beginning his career as an economic strategist at Murugappa Group. Eventually, he shifted his focus to yoga. Kausthub Desikachar joined Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in 2000 and worked 12 years at the Chennai, India-based company, where he supervised the training of yoga therapy trainees and personally mentored junior yoga therapists. He also obtained a PhD in yoga at the University of Madras during this time and wrote a dissertation titled "The Role of Individualized Yoga Practice on Quality of Life."

Kausthub Desikachar went on to co-found the Krishnamacharya Healing & Yoga Foundation in 2006 and has served as its CEO ever since. In addition to supervising yoga teacher training programs, he provides yoga-focused healing and therapy to clients. He concurrently serves as president at KHYF International and Viniyoga Pte, Ltd., through which he has extended his Viniyoga teacher training to Belgium and several Asian countries.

Dr. Desikachar has visited many countries, including Australia, Indonesia, France, and Canada, to speak at international yoga workshops, seminars, and conferences. Complementing his extensive teaching and speaking experience, he is a member of the Indian School of Psychology Association and the International Positive Psychological Association, and he is part of the research board at the Patanjali Research Foundation.
