A graduate of Truman State University in Maryland, Kevin J. Carr of Burlington, Iowa, earned a bachelor of science in accounting and passed all 4 sections of the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam during his senior year. He leverages his training and experience to serve as vice president of administrative services and chief financial officer of Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa. In this role, Kevin J. Carr oversees all accounting functions and nonacademic areas, including residence life and new construction.

Since joining SCC, Kevin J. Carr has secured financing for three new academic buildings and has helped lead an $11M capital campaign called Build the Dream. To improve the lives of on-campus students, he also started SCC’s Residence Hall Council and served as a leader in developing the indoor sports arena for students interested in soccer, basketball, volleyball, and football. In terms of finances, he also helped the school’s foundation secure tax-exempt borrowing through the use of conduit financing, and he worked to lower the school’s loan rate from 4.0% to 2.67%, which ultimately translates to savings of $67,000 per year.
