Leanne Tormey has been an educational advocate for students for nearly thirty years and has recently expanded the Leanne Tormey Advantage to include professional coaching for educators working to improve learning outcomes for students. Through this work, she hopes to support those in educational leadership positions to achieve their career goals and to define the trajectory of their careers.
Throughout her career, Leanne Tormey has worked with multiple educational organizations and has held a range of positions. Starting as a public school teacher in the early 1990s, she subsequently honed her leadership skills and earned numerous promotions. In these roles, she primarily worked with public schools. She has always referred to teaching as the most powerful role she has played, in spite of the fact that she has served as a Superintendent of Schools in Connecticut.
In addition to public and Charter Schools, Leanne Tormey has held roles with various nonprofits. She recently served on the 5 Steps to Five’s Board and Co-chaired their Program Committee. She is also involved in the Youth Voices Center and the is an alumni and past Board member of the Steffi Nossen School of Dance.
