Macmichael Nwaiwu serves as a lead engineer with DTE Energy Co. in Detroit. In this position, he ensures compliance with federal and state regulations for the Gas Transmission Pipeline integrity program. Additionally, Macmichael Nwaiwu actively participates in company safety programs and collaborates with third-party consultants to develop recordkeeping strategies and identify record defects. Before joining DTE Energy, he worked at Pinnacle Advanced Reliability Technologies, where he facilitated the implementation of multiple projects collectively worth more than $6 million as a mechanical integrity project manager.

As an undergraduate, Macmichael Nwaiwu studied petroleum and natural gas engineering at the Federal University of Technology in Owerri, Nigeria. Later, he continued his education at the University of Houston, where he earned an MS in petroleum engineering with a focus on project management.

Involved in his professional community, Mr. Nwaiwu maintains active membership with the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Project Management Institute, American Gas Association, and American Association of Drilling Engineers. He is a certified project management professional (PMP) and risk-based inspector (API 580).
