Drawing on more than three decades of experience with multiple nonprofits, Matt Kupec serves as chief executive officer for the Southern Illinois University Foundation. In his role as CEO, Matt serves as SIU’s chief development officer and provides strategic oversight and leadership in directing SIU’s Forever SIU Campaign. Under his leadership at the Foundation, the original $75 million campaign goal was successfully raised and the goal raised to $200 million. The Foundation also raised a record-setting $28.5 million in FY20, a 60% increase of $11,457,000 than had been raised the previous year.

Before this, Mr. Kupec served as the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute Foundation’s executive vice president, chief philanthropy officer, and president of the Moffitt Foundation. At Moffitt,. he secured the two largest charitable gifts in the foundation’s history. He also generated seven gifts valued at more than $1 million within 12 months. During his first year, Matt Kupec increased its cash flow from $13 million to $37 million.

Alongside a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill, he has a master’s degree in education administration from Hofstra University. He earned these in 1980 and 1985, respectively, and was a four-year starting quarterback on the UNC football team.
