The recipient of a bachelor's degree in business administration and computer science from Saint Mary's University, Matthew "Matt" Cameron studied common law at Dalhousie University from 2003 to 2006 and subsequently obtained a bachelor of laws (civil law) from the University of Ottawa. Matthew Cameron then relocated to Toronto, Ontario, where he served a year as student-at-law at Dale & Lessmann LLP before being promoted to corporate associate lawyer. He joined Stikeman Elliott LLP's Toronto office in 2010.
Matthew Cameron spent almost 8 years as a corporate associate at Stikeman Elliot LLP. Focusing on mergers and acquisitions, as well as financing and securities law, he oversaw complex international transactions and managed a team of diverse legal professionals. He continues to work in this area through his role as senior vice president and general counsel at Akumin, a publicly traded outpatient diagnostic imaging service provider with more than 125 locations.
Matt Cameron was named to the Best Lawyers in Canada in 2017. In addition to his work as a corporate lawyer with Akumin, he is a past chairman of the board of directors at Serve Canada. His hobbies include hiking, skiing, cycling, and exercising.
