After earning his bachelor of science in education degree from Pittsburg State University in Kansas, educator and school superintendent Matthew Wendt, Ed.D. assumed consecutive teaching positions at Holton and Gardner-Edgerton High Schools. Later, while facilitating in-school suspension operations at Spring Hill High School, Matthew Wendt earned a master of science in educational administration degree from Kansas State University.
Matthew Wendt has since served as superintendent of schools at Oswego Community Unit School District 308 in Illinois and Ankeny Community School District in Iowa. He has also continued to further his own education, obtaining state superintendent certification through Fort Hays State University and national certification from the American Association of School Administrators. Matthew Wendt secured a doctor of education in educational leadership and administration degree from the University of Arkansas. Since 2018, he has served as a foreign principal, consultant, and teacher for two international schools in China.
Recently, Matthew Wendt launched a new partnership and business with corporate and education leaders in southern China. The American Institute for International School Partnerships will focus on bring the American high school rigorous and relevant curriculum, including Advanced Placement, IB and college-credit frameworks, to Chinese students across China. The result will be a partnership between two high schools allowing students in China who are unable to afford access to American schools the opportunity to learn from an American curriculum ending with an American high school diploma.
