Megan Moilanen, a California State University Fullerton cum laude graduate, obtained a bachelor's degree in 2009. The following year, she concurrently worked as a history teacher at St. Margaret's Episcopal School and as high school program coordinator at Breakthrough Collaborative San Juan Capistrano. Megan Moilanen worked part-time during the school year and full-time in the summer with the latter and created a program that helped middle school students transition to high school.
Later in her career, Megan Moilanen worked as a speech and composition teacher and Grade 9 level chairperson at KIPP King Collegiate High School. She worked two years in this role and subsequently served two years as assistant principal at Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon, California. Here, Megan Moilanen oversaw curriculum and professional development in addition to representing the school in parent groups and serving as a liaison between teachers and district education staff.
In 2019, Moilanen was hired as principal at ACE Charter High School in San Jose. Supplementing her varied experience in the education sector, she holds membership with the Association of California School Administrators and is attending the Relay Graduate School of Education. Outside of her professional endeavors, Moilanen enjoys studying women's history via documentaries and podcasts and supports Oakland Animal Services in the East Bay.
